Rapidly-growing fintech startup plants roots for growth in Birmingham Metro Area

Birmingham, Ala. – December 13, 2021 – Immediate, a financial wellness and earned wage access (EWA) leader, announced a permanent location for its headquarters in the heart of Homewood to better accommodate its growth long-term. The new location, at 2820 Central Avenue, will undergo extensive renovations to create an innovative space which fosters collaboration. The renovations will be led by Chambless King Architects. Immediate Founder and CEO Matt Pierce expects a move-in date of Summer 2022.

He shared the news with Immediate employees Friday evening at its holiday party, held at Caliber Sports, the soon-to-be neighbor of the rapidly-growing company. “Birmingham has provided Immediate with a supportive startup community and innovative fintech ecosystem,” said Pierce. “Additionally, as we work to provide more American workers with on-demand wage access, it makes sense for us to be in Birmingham where there are major healthcare systems and companies with thousands of employees who could benefit from financial solutions like Immediate.”

Pierce believes Homewood will provide a convenient, walkable neighborhood for Immediate customers traveling to Birmingham—from the new Valley Hotel and multitude of culinary options to the variety of remote work-friendly coffee shops, the neighborhood offers a great atmosphere to host visitors from out of state. Pierce emphasized, “Moving Immediate to the city of Homewood is exciting not only personally, as it's where my family is, but also professionally. We are proud to be a part of this thriving community and moving into a space that will accommodate our growing team and allow us to continue to serve our employees and our customers as well as our community."

Currently officed in Innovation Depot in downtown Birmingham, Pierce considers the local community key to its success, as his pitch at the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama’s Alabama Launchpad earned the company $100,000 in non-dilutive seed funding. Pierce hopes to repay the favor as the company grows and becomes a driver for top talent as well as other fintech and startup companies to the Magic City. Immediate currently has 45 team members (employees and 1099s), but the company started with just Matt as a team of one until December 2019.

The new office will be designed to accommodate this growth and allow room for further expansion. Chambless King Architects believes the new space will provide Immediate new ways to connect with customers and collaborate with one another.

Immediate hopes to expand its footprint beyond its current user base (covering 46 states) to continue to have nationwide impact. The corporate headquarters is taking the company closer to its mission of improving the financial well-being of one million American workers over the next three years by providing on-demand access to earned wages and financial wellness resources.
